In 1998, I had grown tired of taking my pupils abroad on mediocre trips and quite simply, I felt that with my postgraduate training in Management and my teaching experience, I could offer a much better experience for pupils and staff alike. I wanted to see students returning from their tour excited by their experience and enthused by the target country. A carefully planned itinerary tailor-made to the needs of each individual school, good and appropriate accommodation, decent food and executive coaches are all key to the success of a trip and I felt that these were all achievable without the need for pupils to pay a premium. And so in 1999, I founded Connect Studies Ltd, determined to make my company stand apart from the crowd and to offer efficient, personable service at competitive rates.

Fourteen years on, I still have a fascination, a pride and a love for my work. The company has evolved, offering new venues throughout Europe, new subjects and new challenges but it has remained a family business and its growth has been through word of mouth, rather than any heavy marketing. 66% of those who travelled with my company in the first year still do! I have thoroughly enjoyed building these solid working relationships with teachers and with my suppliers and I am indebted to the loyalty and expertise of my Tour Directors and coach drivers who add to the success of each tour. But my biggest enjoyment still comes from seeing students return from their tour safe, happy and excited by what they have seen and learnt.
