Sample Five Day Tour - Enrichment (Normandy)
Day 1
Depart on executive coach. DVD and toilet facilities on board. Tunnel crossing to France. During the journey, the children will be encouraged to look at signs, essential for reading comprehension and use their French at various stops.
Time permitting, visit to Honfleur, a picturesque seaside town and port. The group will complete a work study either on the port itself or at the tourist office. Opportunity to wander in the boutiques.
Early evening arrival at our accommodation where the group will also meet the Tour Director and evening meal. Our children will be in 2/4 bedded rooms, all in single beds. There will also be a talk on fire procedures this evening.
Day 2
After breakfast, there will be an early departure for a market before travelling onwards to Saint Malo. The children will buy an ice-cream at a local café and walk along the ramparts.
Transfer to the Mont Saint Michel.
Visit to the Abbey and some free time to explore the shops.
Return to our accommodation for our evening meal – a pancake evening!
Day 3
After our breakfast and French lesson, there will be a visit to Pegasus Bridge. Guided visit of one of the most successful stories of the D Day Landings.
Lunch and visit to a small biscuit manufacturer.
The group will then drive to Arromanches,site of Mulberry Harbour andGold Beach. Visit to the Landings Museum.
Time for some shopping in the pedestrianised area of Arromanches
Evening meal and return to the accommodation - barbeque or a typical Norman meal.
Day 4
After a continental-style breakfast and language lesson, the group will visit Monsieur Martins Goats
Picnic lunch and onward transfer to the cemeteryin Bayeux and the famous Bayeux Tapestry and the Cathedral.
Time for a visit to a supermarket in Bayeux.
Rounders /softball tournament at the accommodation
Return to our accommodation and evening meal – the children will make their own pizzas!
Day 5
Breakfast and departure for the United Kingdom.
Crossing and picnic lunch. Arrival at school.
