Sample Five Day Tour - Modern Languages (Berlin)

We are committed to creating an itinerary which will enthuse pupils and encourage a positive outlook towards the country they are studying. All of our modern languages tours can include lessons, workstudies and practical tasks promoting the use of the target language wherever possible.

Day 1
Depart school for transfer to airport. Packed lunch required.
Onward transfer to our accommodation and introductory talk on fire drill and facilities available to the party. Unpacking.
Dinner in hotel.

Day 2
After breakfast and a language lesson, the group will head for the Reichstag - seat of the German Federal Parliament. Ascent to the top of the Reichstag for spectacular views across Berlin.
The group will then view the Brandenburg Gate, for many, the symbol of Berlin. Time at the Field of Stelae Holocaust Memorial before heading for the Pergamon Museum, passing the Babelplatz, site of the famous book burning on May 10th
We will then walk to the Fernsehrturm for an ascent, and have some time at the Christmas Market on the Alexanderplatz.
Evening meal at hotel.

Day 3
After breakfast, the group will transfer to Grunewald Railway Station and Gleis 17 before a brief visit here to the Olympic Stadium.
Onwards to the former concentration camp at Sachsenhausen, where we will spend several hours. (We will be travelling by coach on this day).
Transfer to Potsdam for 2 hours approx. at leisure, shopping in the traditional Christmas market and around the Palace of Sanssouci. A work study to be completed here under the direction of the Tour Director.
Evening meal at a typically German restaurant near Potsdam.
We will then head back into Berlin and possibly the Stadtbad at Schoneberg,

Day 4
After breakfast and a language lesson, we will visit the German Résistance Museum then transfer to the  Topography of Terrors, (located on the site of the Gestapo Headquarters) for a guided tour.  En route, we will go along the length of Wilhelmstrasse -  address of many of the most feared Nazi Ministries during the war - and on past Goering’s Air Ministry building. We will then walk to the Haus am Checkpoint Charlie for photographs.
Onwards to the zoo where we shall complete a questionnaire in German and then some shopping time in the famous dept store KaDeWe, the largest dept store in Europe.
Evening meal at the hotel and time for packing.

Day 5
Depending on the time of flight, there may be the opportunity for further visits such as to a school in Berlin before the transfer to the airport and return to the UK.

Schools may choose to travel by coach to Berlin, extending the tour to a seven day tour.
