Sample Seven Day Tour - Science (Berlin)
Day 1
Depart at 18:00. Shuttle crossing to Calais and onward travel to Berlin. There will be frequent stops to break the journey. These will be discussed with the party leaders.
Day 2
Afternoon arrival at our accommodation and introductory talk on fire drill and facilities available to the party.
Transfer to Tropical Islands for an evening of swimming in Europe’s largest tropical park. There may also be time to watch the evening show.
Day 3
Breakfast and transfer to Berlin and the British Cemetery. There will be a brief visit here before visiting the Olympic Stadium.
The group will then head for the Reichstag - seat of the German Federal Parliament – where we will visit the dome.
The group will view the Brandenburg Gate, for many, the symbol of Berlin
Lunch will be followed by a guided tour of the Field of Stelae Holocaust Memorial.
Finally, there will be a visit to the Science Center Medical Technology.
Transfer to hotel and evening meal followed by bowling.
Day 4
After breakfast, the group will head for the Berlin Life Science Learning Lab. We will learn about the basics of genetics, genetic engineering and genome research.
Lunch and transfer to the former concentration camp at Sachsenhausen.
Onwards to Potsdam for time at leisure shopping and around the Palace of Sanssouci.
Evening meal in a traditional German restaurant around Lake Wannsee.
We will then head back into Berlin for a visit to the Haus am Checkpoint Charlie. En route, the coach will go along the length of Wilhelmstrasse - address of many of the most feared Nazi Ministries during the war - and on past the Topography of Terrors, (located on the site of the Gestapo Headquarters) and also Goering’s Air Ministry building.
Day 5
After breakfast, the group will transfer to the Science Center Spectrum, a hands on museum which aims to educate visitors in a fun and entertaining way.
We will then visit either the Zeiss Planetarium or the Deutsches Technikmuseum.
The group will finally go to the Jewish Museum for a guided tour and return to the accommodation via the East Side Gallery.
Evening meal at the centre and then an ascent of the Fernsehrturm.
Day 6
After a German breakfast, transfer by train to the Story Of Berlin. This exhibition documents the history of this capital city from 900AD to the present day.
Lunch and return to the Europa Centre for the remainder of the afternoon shopping.
Evening meal during leisure time and return journey.
Day 7
The group will continue their return journey. Shuttle. Morning arrival at school at approximately 11:00
