Sample Eight Day Tour - Modern Languages (Munich)

We are committed to creating an itinerary which will enthuse pupils and encourage a positive outlook towards the country they are studying. All of our modern languages tours can include lessons, workstudies and practical tasks promoting the use of the target language wherever possible.

Day 1
Depart school late the previous evening on an executive coach. DVD and toilet facilities on board. Shuttle crossing to France and onward transfer to Munich,Germany. There will be regular stops throughout the journey. Evening arrival at our hotel and evening meal. Our children will be in 2/3 bedded rooms, all in single beds. There will also be a talk on fire procedures this evening.

Day 2
After a continental -style breakfast and introductory German lesson by the Director of Studies, the group will depart for a day exploring Munich.
Our tour will start in Marienplatz, at the heart of the Altstadt. The group will see the famous Glockenspiel springing into life before exploring the area and completing a work study at the Viktualienmarkt, one of Europe’s great food markets.
After lunch, the group will head for the BMW Museum before our transfer to the Olympic Park. The group can opt for a soccer tour, visiting the stadium, VIP area and locker rooms or the Olympic Park itself. Following this, there will be an opportunity to ascend the Olympia Tower before our evening meal at the hotel.

Day 3
After our breakfast and German lesson, the group will head for the medieval town of Fussen. There will be an opportunity for a town work study here before transferring to one of the most famous castles in the world - Neuschwanstein, Ludwig II’s creation and the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Castle! We will get to this castle by the scenic route! This will mean stopping at the Tegelberg, going up in the cable car and then walking down to the castle.
After lunch, we will go to a nearby salt mine - the Salzbergwerk, for a guided visit before heading for (time of year permitting) the site of Hitler’s mountain retreat at Kehlstein,- Eagle’s Nest!
Return to the hotel and evening meal. Quiz session.

Day 4
After breakfast, the group will make an early start for a full day visit to Salzburg in Austria. There are many places of interest to see in this city but we will begin our tour in the Old Town before heading for the Hohensalzburg Fortress, the only fullypreserved fortress of its kind in Central Europe.
After lunch, there will be time to look at Mozart’s birthplace and Mozart's Residence with the Mozart Sound and Film Museum.
Return journey to Munich and evening meal.

Day 5
The group will spend the morning at the largest Scientific museum in the world - the Deutsches Museum. After lunch, it will be possible to choose between:

Day 6
According to the preference of the group and time of year, there are two options available on this day:
A morning viewing local handicraft and craftsmen at work at the open air museum at Glentleitn.
An afternoon at Alpamare water park, with the huge array of indoor and outdoor pools and the longest water slide in Germany!.
Evening meal and Connect Studies prizegiving. 

Day 7
Breakfast and departure  for school, stopping en route at the hypermarket for any last minute shopping.  Arrival back at school Day Eight.
