Sample Five Day Tour - Enrichment (Rhine)
Day 1
Depart school on executive coach. Coffee making, DVD and toilet facilities on board. Shuttle crossing to France.
Onward journey to our accommodation.
Day 2
After a German-style breakfast, depart for the Rhine valley, with it’s dramatic landscape of cliffs, vineyards and castles.
Marksburg castle - the group will visit a dramatic castle which has withstood all attacks - the children are particularly fascinated by a grisly torture chamber in the cellar!
The group will board a boat for a cruise on the river, viewing the Burg Rheinfels, the Loreley rock and the Burg Maus and Burg Katz en route to Rudesheim.
At Rudesheim, there will be a chair lift ride through the vineyards at Niederwald before a return to Koblenz,and a tour of the Altstadt. This has a pedestrianised area where the children will taste fresh pretzels and bread from the bakeries and view the many varieties of sausage on offer. If desired, the children can be given sufficient money to buy an ice-cream at an Eis café!There will also be a visit to the Deutsches Eck, where the children will have the opportunity to view the confluence of the Rhine and the Moselle.
Return to hotel and supper.
Day 3
Breakfast and transfer to Cologne. Our first visit in Cologne will be to the sports stadium, home of F.C. Koln, for a guided tour.
The group will then have the opportunity to visit a chocolate factory before seeing the famous cathedral and time permitting, exploring the city.
Onward transfer to Bonn and a guided tour of thehistory museum
Return to the hotel.
Day 4
Breakfast and transfer to Phantasialand for an afternoon visit at this popular theme park.
Return to hotel and supper
Day 5
Breakfast and departure for the United Kingdom. On the return journey, the group will be able to visit a hypermarket for any last minute shopping. Approximate arrival at school 20:00
Option
After a German-style breakfast, depart for the Moselle Valley.
Onwards to the castle at Cochem for a guided visit or the Burg Eltz.
There will then be a visit to a local winery before lunch and transfer to Trier
Return to the accommodation and our evening meal.
