Sample Five Day Tour - Modern Languages (Rhine)

We are committed to creating an itinerary which will enthuse pupils and encourage a positive outlook towards the country they are studying. All of our modern languages tours can include lessons, workstudies and practical tasks promoting the use of the target language wherever possible.

Day 1
Depart school on executive coach. Coffee  making, DVD and toilet facilities on board. Shuttle crossing to France.
Onward journey to our accommodation. Pupils will need to bring a packed lunch with them on this day.
There will be a talk on fire procedures. Evening meal 

Day 2
After a German-style breakfast and language lesson, depart for the Rhine Valley, with its dramatic landscape of cliffs, vineyards and castles.
Marksburg castle - the group will visit a dramatic castle which has withstood all attacks - the children are particularly fascinated by a grisly torture chamber in the cellar!
Lunch will be during our Rhine river cruise to Rudesheim. The group will complete a work study at Rudesheim before heading up the Niederwald monument by cable car.
Onwards to Koblenz where we will explore the Christmas market. The children will be given sufficient money to complete an errand. There may be a short visit to the Deutsches Eck (the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle rivers)
Return to the accommodation and our evening meal.

Day 3
After breakfast and a German lesson, the group will depart for Cologne for a visit to the chocolate factory.
There may be time to look at the cathedral before an onward transfer to Bonn, where we will visit:
The Haus der Geschichte: a very informative museum on the history of Germany and the Christmas Market.
Return to the accommodation and evening meal.

Day 4
Breakfast and departure for the United Kingdom. On the return journey, the group may be able to visit a hypermarket for any last minute shopping.
Shuttle crossing and lunch provided.
Evening arrival at school

Option
After a German-style breakfast and language lesson, depart for the Moselle Valley.
Onwards to the castle at Cochem for a guided visit
Visit to a local winery before lunch and heading to Bernkastel. The group will complete a work study at Bernkastel before exploring the Christmas market here.
The children will be given sufficient money to complete an errand at the market before an onward transfer to the Christmas Market at Trier
Return to the accommodation and our evening meal.
