Competition 2023!

Inspired by the fantastic poems written by one of our lead Tour Directors, Ben Sykes, we have decided to run a competition in 2023 for all pupils travelling on our tours. Ben’s clever poems, usually composed on the coach during the return journey, have delighted many schools over the years and have served as a most impressive and memorable signature for his work.

What would We Like Pupils to Do?

We would like pupils to write a poem based on their experiences during their tour. There is a minimum of 50 words however there is no maximum and it does not have to rhyme. We ask only that poems are not derogatory about any participants on their tour and that they try to engage the reader in a flavour of their visit abroad. So if any pupil has been inspired by any element of their school tour, we’d like to hear about it!

Where Do Pupils Send their Entry?

Please email entries directly to Connect Studies at caroline.beer@connectstudies.com with the title 'Competition Entry'. Pupils must include their name, email address, age, school and the tour. For pupils aged under 16, we ask that pupils ensure they have permission from their parents to enter.

When is the Closing Date?

The closing date for entries in the 28 July 2023 and winners will be announced on our website shortly after this date.

Who Are the Judges?

The panel of judges will be led by Ben Sykes and will include two other independent advisors.

What are the Prizes?

The top three poems will receive prizes for both the entrants and
their schools and the poems will be published on our website.
