Connect Studies Immersion

...learning French the French way!

WHY?
Studies have shown that a well-structured and intensive revision course is a powerful way to enhance exam grades. We have put together a programme which we feel will make a real difference to students sitting 13+ GCSE A1 and A2, focussing on overcoming confidence issues and taking the fear out of grammar! Our students work hard but return home nurturing a sense of achievement and marked progress in their language skills.

HOW?
Concentrating on the core skills of speaking, writing, reading and listening, our students will experience a balanced and varied approach to learning French, with an emphasis on creating total immersion in a fun and relaxed way.

  • thirty hours of tuition, in groups of six, with staff experienced in UK examinations and also French native speakers
  • one-to-one support to understand and improve any areas of weakness
  • one-to-one preparation for spoken exams
  • a balance with sporting or leisure activities
  • a meal at an auberge on the final night
  • French through music sessions with our professional musician
  • various visits to put the theory into practice, including, according to the level studied, a market, a school, a radio station, town hall

WHERE & WHEN??
In 2023, we will be holding courses at two venues.

Menil: Our very own centre in the village of Menil, Maine – et – Loire, is perfect for those students wanting a quieter, very individual programme as we only accommodate ten students in the house itself. We can arrange for further students to stay in carefully chosen host families around the village, where they will be supervised and will be able to gain further insight into French culture and language. Our centre is a beautifully renovated house with classrooms and a leisure room perfectly suited to our needs. Nearby are plentiful walks and opportunities for leisure activities.

Courses in Menil will be as follows:
Sunday 22 Oct – Sunday 29 Oct 2023: GCSE 12 places  |  A Level 6 places
  GCSE  12 places  |  A Level 6 places
  13+  6 places
  GCSE 6 places  | A Level 6 places

Ferme du Loterot: We shall also be using the Ferme du Loterot in Normandy for a GCSE course running in the autumn half term 2024. This fantastic venue is larger and will be suitable for those wishing to work hard but also to relax with peers in the evenings playing football or basketball or enjoying the extensive grounds. There will be six classes held here with no more than six pupils per class.

Courses in Ferme du Loterot will be as follows:
Sunday 20 Oct – Saturday 27 Oct 2024: GCSE  36 places
